While we have moved mountains to get you the best flavours, we leave the most fun part of brewing to you. Here’s a simple guide to get you through the last step for the best cup of coffee.
BEFORE YOU BREW, here’s a few doubts we are sure will cross your mind:
What’s the best blend for my equipment? We got you. Every blend brings out the best
of each flavour and now you can’t Cold Brew South Indian Filter Coffee and hope to get the authentic flavour. As we say, coffee brewing is an art, although there are no rules, here’s a quick guide for you to choose the best blend for the brewing equipment that you have.
Here’s a few things that will help you get the best brew no matter the method
- Use thoroughly washed and dried filters as the remains from previous brews can alter the taste and you definitely don’t want the taste of liquid detergent in your coffee. (We hope)
- Even the water you use alters the taste of your coffee so try the difference between bottled, RO and tap water.
- The measurements are given for you to understand the ratio of coffee to water.

- 1 Tablespoon is a large spoon usually used to serve.
- 1 Teaspoon is small spoon which is used for stirring coffee and adding sugar.
- 1 Tablespoon usually measures to the quantity of 3 tablespoons.
- 100 Ml of water is the quantity your typical paper cup can hold.
WHOLE BEANS GRIND: Medium to Coarse grind size.
BREWING TIME: 4 MINUTES
BREWING:
- 4 steps away from good coffee: Add 1.3-1.6 Tablespoons (20-25 g) of ground coffee into the French press.
- 3 steps away from good coffee: Pour 40ml of hot water to wet the coffee and stir 10 times. Wait for 30 seconds.
- 2 steps away from good coffee: Then pour 200 ml of hot water and close the lid for 4-7 minutes.
- 1 step away from good coffee: Press the plunger gently, retaining the grounds at the bottom. Hold the plunger for ONE minute.
GOOD COFFEE’S READY TO SERVE: There’s no waiting. Serve the coffee into the cups directly.
TIPS FOR PERFECTIONISTS: Bring the water to boil at 94 degrees Celsius
WHOLE BEANS GRIND: Fine to medium grind size.
BREWING TIME: 10 MINUTES
BREWING:
- 5 steps away from good coffee: Begin by setting up the filter chamber (One with a sieve) on top of the collecting chamber (without sieve). Open the Yantra Coffee pouch, enjoy the aroma for 2 seconds (or you won’t be able to go to the next step).
- 4 steps away from good coffee: Add the 1.2 tablespoon (18g) of ground Yantra coffee into the filter chamber, and pat down to spread the grind evenly.
- 3 steps away from good coffee: Slowly add 100ml of boiled water by initially wetting the bed of coffee.
- 2 steps away from good coffee: Place the lid of the filter chamber and let it brew for 7-8 minutes.
- 1 step away from good coffee: Now take 50ml of the decoction and add 60ml pre-boiled/heated milk. Add sugar as per taste.
GOOD COFFEE’S READY TO SERVE: Froth the coffee and take a sip.
TIPS FOR PERFECTIONISTS:
- Boil water to 92-96 degrees Celsius.
- To add the authentic touch to kaapi, froth the coffee by transferring the coffee from one glass that is held higher to a glass held below.
- Lesser the water you use, the stronger the decoction tastes. The brew also tastes stronger if you let it sit for a maximum of 10 minutes.
WHOLE BEANS GRIND: Medium grind size.
BREWING TIME: 6 MINUTES
BREWING:
- 3 steps away from good coffee: Add 0.8 Tablespoon (12g) of ground Yantra coffee to a cup.
- 2 steps away from good coffee: Pour 120ml boiled water into the cup with coffee and let it sit for 4 minutes.
- 1 step away from good coffee: After 4 minutes, stir at least 10 times and pass the brew through the Channi into another cup.
GOOD COFFEE’S READY TO SERVE: Add hot water, sugar and milk as per preference and liking and sip.
TIPS FOR PERFECTIONISTS: Bring the water to boil at 96 degrees Celsius
WHOLE BEANS GRIND: Medium to Fine grind size for 2- 3 minute brew time, and a Fine grind for 1 minute brew time.
BREWING TIME: 1 – 3 MINUTES
BREWING:
- 4 steps away from good coffee: Add 17g of ground coffee powder and 80ml of water to the Aeropress.
- 3 steps away from good coffee: Stir a few times to wet all the coffee ground and let it for 20 seconds.
- 2 steps away from good coffee: Then add 150 ml of water and vacuum seal the Aeropress for 1.5 minutes on the timer.
- 1 step away from good coffee: Gently press down the Aeropress for 30 to 50 seconds until the machine makes a hissing sound.

TIPS FOR PERFECTIONISTS:
- Slow pressing with consistent pressure is recommended for a clean cup of coffee.
- 90-degree C water and begin the timer.
- Stirring the coffee helps wet all the coffee ground.
WHOLE BEANS GRIND: Medium to Fine Grind.
BREWING TIME: 2 MINUTES
BREWING:
- 2 steps away from good coffee: Add the finely ground coffee to the portafilter and even out the coffee grind to make a compact bed.
- 1 step away from good coffee: Place the portafilter into the espresso machine and brew for 25-30 seconds
GOOD COFFEE: Take a sip of the espresso
WHOLE BEANS GRIND: Fine grind size
BREWING TIME: 2 MINUTES
BREWING:
- 4 steps away from good coffee: Add 100ml of warm water to the bottom part of Moka pot and even out the grind by tamping it.
- 3 step away from good coffee: Add 1.2 tablespoons 12 g of coffee powder to the filter.
- 2 steps away from good coffee: Attach the top chamber to the bottom and place the whole set up on the stove over medium heat.
- 1 step away from good coffee: When the water starts boiling, collect the coffee coming out from the top chamber using the tube.
GOOD COFFEE: Moka! Coffee’s here. Add sugar as per liking and serve
WHOLE BEANS GRIND: Medium to Fine grind size
BREWING TIME: 2 MINUTES
BREWING:
- 4 steps away from good coffee: Fold the filter paper into a cone shape and place it into the filter and add 16 g of ground coffee into the filter.
- 3 step away from good coffee: Pour 60 ml of hot water and wait for air bubbles to form. When you spot air bubbles, stir thrice and let it stay for 30 seconds.
- 2 steps away from good coffee: Repeat the process (Step 3) every 30 seconds until 240 ML of hot water has been used.
- 1 step away from good coffee: Let it drip through the filter.
GOOD COFFEE: After 3 minutes, remove the filter cone from the cup and serve the coffee
WHOLE BEANS GRIND: Coarse grind
BREWING TIME: 12 – 24 HOURS
BREWING:
- 4 steps away from good coffee: Add 220 grams of coarsely ground coffee and put it in the container you are going to brew.
- 3 steps away from good coffee: Add 8 cups of water and stir. The water need not be hot.
- 2 steps away from good coffee: Cover the container and let it sit for 12 to 24 hours.
- 1 step away from good coffee: Pour the coffee through a strainer into another container for storage.
GOOD COFFEE: Pour equal parts of water and concentrate and then serve over ice and enjoy.
WHOLE BEANS GRIND: Medium to Fine grind size
BREWING TIME: 2 to 2.5 MINUTES
BREWING:
- 6 steps away from good coffee: After soaking your filter in warm water for at least five minutes, drop it into the siphon’s top component, and hook it to the bottom of the hopper’s glass tubing.
- 5 steps away from good coffee: Fill your siphon’s bottom component with 300 grams of hot water.
- 4 steps away from good coffee: Insert the hopper, filter and all, into the bulb and ensure that the entire apparatus is secure. Place the assembly on the stove or your heat source.
- 3 steps away from good coffee: The water in the bulb will begin boiling and rise up into the hopper. Once the water has moved into the hopper, turn your heat source down.
- 2 steps away from good coffee: Add your coffee, and gently tap to even it. Let the coffee brew for one minute and 10 seconds.
- 1 step away from good coffee: Remove your siphon from its heat source, stir it 10 times and wait for the coffee to rest in the bulb.
GOOD COFFEE: Remove the hopper and serve, give the coffee a few minutes to cool.
WHOLE BEANS GRIND: Medium to Coarse grind size
BREWING TIME: 4.5 MINUTES
BREWING:
- 8 steps away from good coffee: Place the Chemex filter in the brewer with the single fold away from the spout and multiple folds lined up against the spout.
- 7 steps away from good coffee: Rinse the filter and preheat the Chemex for 15 seconds using hot water until the filter forms an even seal around the brewer. Dump the preheated water.
- 6 steps away from good coffee: Add 50 grams of ground coffee to your brewer. Level the coffee in your brewer.
- 5 steps away from good coffee: Pour just enough hot water on the grounds to saturate them completely until air bubbles appear.
- 4 steps away from good coffee: Allow the water to filter through for about 30 seconds until the air bubbles disappear.
- 3 steps away from good coffee: Pour water in at regular intervals. Start in the center and move out in even spirals. Circle in and out, stirring all coffee evenly. Avoid pouring against the paper filter. Stop pouring at 800 grams of water.
- 2 steps away from good coffee: Allow the coffee to brew for 4-5 minutes and let water to filter through.
- 1 step away from good coffee: Lift the filter and throw away the grind.
GOOD COFFEE: Swirl the Chemex around a little and you’re ready to serve two cups of brewed coffee.
WHOLE BEANS GRIND: Medium to Coarse grind
BREWING TIME: 6 MINUTES
BREWING:
- 4 steps away from good coffee: Remove the filter. Add 2-3 tablespoons of Yantra Coffee to the dripper, even out the grind, and place the filter back on top
- 3 steps away from good coffee: Now place this entire set up on top of the coffee mug and pour hot water into the dipper, just enough to dampen the grind
- 2 steps away from good coffee: Give it 5 seconds and then pour the rest of the water and allow the water to slowly drip through the grind
- 1 step away from good coffee: After the water passes through the dipper, remove the dipper and discard it after 4-5 minutes
GOOD COFFEE: For Vitenemese style cold coffee, add a layer of condensed milk, after brewing for Vietnamese style coffee and add ice OR you can drink the brew hot.
WHOLE BEANS GRIND: Fine grind
BREWING TIME: 8 MINUTES
BREWING:
- 4 steps away from good coffee: Use 1:1 1/2 cup proportions of coffee and filtered water. Add this to the Turkish coffee pot. If you want to add Sugar, add one tablespoon.
- 3 steps away from good coffee: Optionally you can also add spices like cardamom and cinnamon into the coffee pot before placing it on the stove
- 2 steps away from good coffee: Give the mixture a nice stir before placing it on the stove directly.
- 1 step away from good coffee: Bring the coffee to boil over medium heat and wait till the coffee foams up on the top
GOOD COFFEE: Pour the boiling hot coffee into the cup.
